New Project-Template Creator

To create a new project, first create the Homepage for your website. You can start from a blank page, or use a template from the library.

To create a Project from a blank page:

In the "Style" tab, click on "Blank Page", then "Finish" to create your project. Add your own elements (background, buttons, menus, etc.) to create a truly unique website.

To create a project from a template in the library:

Create your own unique website based on our templates in 4 easy steps:

1 - Style Tab:

Pick a graphic style from among the list of available templates. Thumbnails represent the general style only (large banner, square buttons, vertical sections, etc.), not the finished result.

2 - Page Tab:

Pick the type of page you want for your Homepage.

Page Name:

By default, the homepage name is index.htm. This is the standard used by most web hosting companies, but some may use different conventions. If your website doesn't appear after you upload it onto a server, contact your hosting company to check what name should be used for your homepage.

Title:

The page title will appear at the top of web browser windows. Search engines will read page titles as priority text. You should choose a title with keywords relevant to the contents of your page to improve your ranking.

Subfolder:

You can organize the pages of your project into subfolders. This can be used, for example, to group together the pages in a given language for multilingual sites to facilitate updates.

3 - Theme Tab (Pro)

Pick a theme in the thumbnail list. The theme is the background and all decorative images (banner, lines, etc.).

The library contains a variety of professional activity and abstract themes. Find the one best suited for your project and personalize it to create your own unique website.

4 - Color /Preview Tab

Use a color palette chart to define colors for your project to save considerable time. Many elements (boxes, lines, buttons, etc.) are linked and will adjust automatically to your project color palette when you insert them in a page. Any change in the color palette will then be applied automatically to all the elements bound to the color palette the next time each page is opened. You may access the color chart options at any time in editing mode by clicking on the Color tab.

Customize the colors of your web site:

Pick a color palette in the Style list, or create your own by clicking on the Palette Manager button to adapt your web site to your company's colors. The Palette selection window is displayed.

To create a new color palette, click on the Palette Manager and give it a name.

You can change the primary, secondary and other colors of your custom palette. Click on the name of each color you wish to modify. Click on Primary Color, for example. The Color window is displayed.

Select a:

You can modify the transparency for each color: click on the expand icon in front of the name of each color, then specify the value of the transparency.

Preview Project:

Make sure you are happy with how your project looks, or go back in the tabs to make changes before you create your project because it will be difficult to change the Style and Theme once you click on Finish.

Save New Project:

By default, new projects are created in a "Web Creator" folder in "My Documents" and have sequential generic names such as Project 1, Project 2, etc.

You may choose another folder; in which case Web Creator will use the next available Project name in that folder if you don't rename it (ex. Project 9).

Click on Finish to create your project when you are satisfied with the preview.

Add Pages to Project:

Use New Page. Web Creator will have saved your preferences to allow you to create a new page with the same style as your homepage. You can choose to change these settings, or keep them to create similarly designed pages.

Note that to create several identical pages, the most efficient technique is to use the Copy function in the Page tab in editing mode.

Managing Pages in a Project:

By default and by convention, the first page of your project should always be named index.html and have the title you give it. For all other pages, use page names and titles (ex. Introduction, Form, etc.) relevant to their contents and containing keywords you wish the search engines to use to reference your website.

New Project Folder:

All files and elements are now included in the project folder. This allows you to cut-paste a whole project to another drive or computer to improve security and allow for easier backups.
